I’m all for giving and it isn’t so bad when you walk past it on the street or while going into the grocery store. That is a holiday standard. Maybe it’s because I live in Minnesota or that I learned BrE before AmE but I pronounce this word as: -a:nt, rhymes with haunt and guant.
The pronunciation of this word as: -ænt, irritates me so BLOODY much! It’s really confusing because I always think of the cute animal.
